Message from our Board President, Sue Arth
May/June 2008 |
|
Greetings and Happy Spring!
Since congregants are not present for entire board meetings, I thought
it might be helpful to share information about how the board functions.
At the meetings, we check in with each other, have a prayer together,
and discuss ideas and issues until we reach consensus. The consensus
model we utilize certainly involves a longer process than simply taking
a majority vote, but it provides the opportunity to thoroughly explore
matters brought to our attention. At anyone’s suggestion we retire to
prayer and reflection to be sure we are attuned to the Christ
Consciousnesses and not mired in our own desires. I think everyone on
the board would agree that at times, using the consensus model, the
extended discussions have saved our church from unintended negative
consequences that might have resulted from implementing the less
demanding rigors of a simple majority vote.
At the end of the meetings, we check in with each other again, and the
pray out is generally followed by hugs. Often, driving home I am
awestruck about how consensus was reached regarding one matter or
another. I smile as I realize that it was not us, but the Christ within
us, that led each board member to rethink a previous position and come
together as one. As to new business, over the past two months the board
has been slowed by illness of several of the members. For this reason,
we were forced to cancel a full-day retreat scheduled for the end of
March. This was quite unfortunate, because it is part of the process
that helps us quickly get on the same page and start to learn how to
work together effectively. We are working to schedule another date and I
expect we will all be up to speed shortly. As always, there is little
doubt that everything will come together in God’s perfect time.
Peace and Blessings--Sue |

Thoughts from our Treasurer, Bill Berto
November/December2007 |
I
have a homing intuition - a wisdom of my heart from Spirit - my source
of inspiration and guidance. I am continually guided along the right
path as I trust Spirit within to lead me in the right direction and
guide me at every tuning point. If I wander from the path or get
confused, I pause and listen for the inner guidance that speaks to my
heart. Attuned to Spirit, I act with wisdom and grace. I move forward,
confident that I am on the right course to my next destination. When
giving from the heart to the church, tithes multiply and abundance
at home increases.
God Bless You, Debbie
